30th may 2nd June "Oirschot and The hague"

The Alfa 6C Club members meet roughly once a year, but each time it feels like the first day of school when friendships are rekindled as if we saw each other just the previous day.  If someone is missing for family or work matters, we quickly forge new friendships.  Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Holland, Greece:  the European community is well represented at every annual Raduno 6C.

Our most recent adventure together took place in Holland.  Thanks to the impeccable organization of Raoul San Giorgi and his wife Katrien, almost 20 Alfas from the forties and fifties travelled the roads surrounded by green planes, blue canals and charming chocolate-coloured houses.  The multicoloured strip of Alfa Romeo's crossed the clean and orderly roads with speedy step, like true thorough breads, unaware of the weight of half a century on their shoulders.

Of great interest was the stop at Eindhoven, home of the DAF company, where over 150 trucks are built every day to transport all sorts of goods throughout the world.  It was nice to see such a sophisticated manufacturing plant where the tradition of manual craftsmanship still remains strong.

The lunch beside the sea was equally pleasant, knowing that towards the north-west and beyond the wind-broken waves lie the white cliffs of Dover.

The height of the trip was the visit to the new Louwman Museum, which devoted one month to a special exhibit dedicated to the Alfa Romeo brand.  Some truly outstanding cars were on display in the hall, on loan from the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese and the Corrado Lo Presto collection.  The museum halls are full of history, quality pieces, curiosities and automobilia, and visitors remain impressed by the capacity, consistency and the spirit of the museum's founder who must have cared for his collection like an affectionate father.   After seeing Bugatti, Isotta Fraschini, Ferrari and Ispano Suiza, returning into to hall to caress the 33 Stradale was simply heaven for any car lover.
